The Turn of the Year

Have my usual holiday season cold. Though sometimes it’s stomach flu. Grateful for small favors.
Snowed in Nashville yesterday. Very beautiful coming down but it didn’t stick.
Quiet. Hibernating. Watching first two seasons of Downton Abbey.
Making jambalaya today with everything left in the refrigerator.
Waiting for the return of the light.
51 books this year, nearly one a week. I’m also reading The Annotated Wizard of Oz, but I doubt I’ll finish it and Castle Richmond before tomorrow night.
I may have received an equal number of rejections.
Still. Hope Springs Eternal: two fulls and one partial out there. And for the New Year, a new list of agents to try, a manuscript that gets better every time I  send it out, and a new novel in progress. I soldier on, no choice.
Stay tuned in early January for the eagerly anticipated annual Dibby Hill Literary Awards.

ADDENDUM: It IS a book a week!! I just found one that got dropped off in midsummer.
